Letter from the President:

Well, it is very hard to believe that summer is almost over!!!  Time truly does fly!!!

Our May Show, which we hosted with the ArkLaTex Club, was a huge success.  It is so great to work with their group -- Peggy Ivins, Brian Jeppson, and Sue Woodson are all hard workers and just fun to spend time with.

I represented our State and our Club at APHA Workshop in June in Arlington, Texas in June.  I am serving on the Rules Committee and the American Paint Horse Foundationís Scholarship Committee for this year.  Both of these meetings were very informative.   I also served on the Executive Committee Nominating Committee.  Our group selected Mike Short to run for the EC next February.  In case you did not hear, we are going to a one meeting per year format.  The rule change proposals that passed at Workshop will be voted on at the AHA Convention to be held  February 21-24, 2014.  Please read over the rule change proposals and let us know your thoughts.  We want to represent you appropriately.

Please note that Director Elections begin on September 15, 2013.  Both Brian Brady and I have been nominated by our Club to serve as Directors for the upcoming term.  All APHA members need to vote in this election.

The Zone 6 Deep South Zone-O-Rama was a huge success.  The Zone 6 Coordinating Committee voted to make a distribution to all clubs that are current with their IRS status.

At the Zone 6 coordinating Committee meeting during the APHA Workshop, I was selected as the Show Manager for the 2014 Zone 6 Deep South Zone-O-Rama.  All volunteers from our club will be greatly appreciated.

Our Club sponsored a breakfast during the AjPHA Youth World show and we will sponsor a breakfast during the Fall World Show.  We are quite fortunate to be able to show our support for the exhibitors at the World Shows.

We also assisted financially with the Southern Regional 4-H Show.  Our great friends from Louisiana hosted the booth.  Thanks so much to those who worked!!

I would like to have a meeting and social event for our club members.  I am thinking sometime this fall.  Please e mail me with suggestions on possible dates.   I would love to host it here at our home.

As summer comes to a close, I am thankful for the support from all of you.  I certainly feel that our club is heading in the right direction.

Karen
